The zoetrope designed by Toika for onedotzero is now housed in the BFI cinema along the Southbank, didn’t realise it was there but was a nice surprise to see it when walking out after watching Casablanca! Looks really cool close up, even though it makes your eyes go a bit funny! Recommend going to see it though, tis rather fabulous!

Will try my best to find a video of it!

aww Christmas

Went into Covent Garden the other week, look how pretty it looks! Apologies for poor quality, when I left home I thought, why would I need me camera?! Stupid. So all pics are taken on my phone, which is rubbish.

Then I stumbled across this installation on the other side of the market, a big triagular thing covered in letters, so I went to investigate…

There was a little sign on the side saying that you could ring a certain number and give a message, then when you walked inside the installation your message appeared in these coloured boxes, which was rather nice. the boxes changed colour and sometimes would make the messages cover an entire wall. They also piped really relaxing music inside the thing, which was very nice but i thought I’d better escape quickly before I fell asleep!

My personal favourite message…
“I wish I was 18 again, but without that disgusting beard”

Ironic Sans…

Came across this website about 5 mins ago and love it already! It stems from the blog at, ironicsans.com, and it sells some ingenious things, my favourite being the commemorative t-shirts for fictional events…

The pre-pixelated t-shirts are also rather funny, and saves you worrying about your t-shirt design arriving at your doorstep pixelated!

And also the “Hello, my name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt” what occasion CAN’T you wear that t-shirt to!

London Fashion Weekend…

After weeks of not posting it appears I am now on a bit of a blog-roll *ahem*…moving on.

Anyway, on Friday I was lucky enough to go to London Fashion Weekend at the Natural History Museum. I was slightly disappointed as I rather wanted to see a dinosaur in eveningwear…unfortunately it was held in the grounds rather than the actual museum. Initial disappointment aside the event was amazing. All sorts of designers came to showcase their collections and it was really nice to see some up-and-coming designers alongside the more etablished. Every one had the same amount of space to show off their clothes/jewellery which put everyone on an equal par despite how prominent the designer, which I thought was rather nice! Plus I got a bag of freebies which was even better! I thoroughly recommend going next year – I certainly will be!!

Living paper doll…

As some may know for my editorial design, I’ve chosen to look into fashion and papers made from materials. Completely by accident, I was sent this video via the wonder of Facebook, which, although the guy is quite annoying, it links in with what I’m doing! A guy called Russell Davies decided that it would be a good thing to paint the top of his macbook pro with blackboard paint, giving this rather cool machine that you can write on and at the ed of the day just wipe off!

Brilliant.

Uses for paper…

Whilst looking into various paper companies for editorial design I started thinking about different uses of paper, and wondered how many people had actually tried creating fashion items out of paper, and to what degree of success. I then stumbled upon this site, about jum nakao, who I think is absolutely amazing! The team in Sao Paulo make dresses out of paper with such detail it’s incredible, if you look at the pictures of the catwalk, after all the hard work that goes into each one, at the end it seems they just rip them off! I also happen to like the lego-style hair they all have!
